Music Theory Workshop

At Ballymena School of Music

Whatever the level we can help. At BSM we offer innovative music theory workshops that complement practical lessons.

Need help understanding chords and harmony or not sure the difference between crotchets and quavers. Whatever the level we can help. At BSM we offer innovative music theory workshops that complement practical lessons. As experienced musicians we know first hand that practical and theory not only complement each other, but also enhance each students progress.

We know how important it is for students to have a good understanding of music theory

It will improve music skills and the progress made on the instrument. Music theory will help students who want to study music at GCSE or A level and for those wanting to study at higher education.

At BSM we encourage all our students to take a theory workshop once a year or alternatively, individual lessons throughout the academic year. Theory will cover the basics from reading music, learning about time and key signatures through to more complex topics such as harmony and melody composition. After each course is finished students can then apply for a graded exam when they are ready with ABRSM, LCM and Trinity.
