Violin Lessons Ballymena

String lessons made for you

Have you always wanted to learn to play violin?

Perhaps you are a mature adult and have always dreamed of playing or maybe a child who wants to learn to play an instrument and you feel violin is the perfect fit for you. We love teaching violin and it is one of our most popular instruments at BSM. We teach beginners through to advanced level, everyone is welcome.

Beginner Violin Lessons

Beginner Violin lessons will include skills such as exploring the instrument and learning basic theory to help with melody and rhythms so you can start to play straight away. Beginner students will be taught a variety of foundational skills through fun methods from posture at the instrument, hand positions, exercises to help develop your playing ability and learning pieces to play as you progress. Many students aim to take an accredited exam with ABRSM, Trinity, and LCM.

Intermediate / Advanced Violin Lessons

So you’ve learned the basics but where do you go from here? Students at this level usually progress to performing solo or taking part in our string ensemble, working towards an exam or competing at festival competitions. Many students however are just eager to keep making progress. Students continue to grow through learning and improving theory, learning scales and exercise to help developing various techniques, develop bow technique and playing a wide range of material. Our tutors love teaching the violin and they will help guide you to get the syllabus that best suits you. Many students aim to take an exam and we structure lessons to support this, teaching across all of the main exam boards and the various syllabuses on offer.

Our Method

Our lessons are customised to suit each student’s ability, age, learning style, and pace of learning. We cover reading notation, tuning, exploring melody, learning positions on the violin, developing bow techniques, harmonics etc. Lessons are 1-2-1 and taken regularly once a week.
