Flute Lessons Ballymena

Flute lessons made for you

Have you always wanted to learn to play the flute?

Perhaps you are a mature adult and have always dreamed of playing or maybe a child who wants to learn to play an instrument and you feel flute is the perfect fit for you. We love teaching the flute at BSM and we teach beginners through to advanced level, everyone is welcome.

Beginner Flute Lessons

Beginner flute lessons will include skills such as exploring the instrument and learning basic theory to help with melody and rhythms so you can start to play straight away. Beginner students will be taught a variety of foundational skills through fun methods from posture, hand positions, exercises to help develop your playing ability and learning pieces to play as you progress. Many students aim to take an accredited exam with ABRSM, Trinity, or LCM.

Intermediate / Advanced Flute Lessons

So you’ve learned the basics but where do you go from here. Students at this level usually progress to performing solo or taking part in our ensemble’s, working towards an exam or competing at festival competitions. Many students however are just eager to keep making progress. Students continue to grow through learning and improving theory, learning scales and exercises to help developing various techniques, developing your tone and musicianship skills while playing a wide range of material. Our tutors love teaching the flute and they will help guide you to get the syllabus that suits you. Many students aim to take an exam and we structure lessons to support this teaching across all of the main exam boards and the various syllabuses on offer.

Our Method

Our lessons are customised to suit each student’s ability, age, learning style, and pace of learning. We cover reading notation, tuning, exploring melody, developing tone and various techniques required at each level.

Lessons are 1-2-1 and taken regularly once a week.

Flute teachers

Our tutors have a wealth of experience teaching and consist of graduates, performing musicians, lectures and we even have an in-house music examiner to help you achieve your best mark possible.

I have been a music teacher for 25 years and can highly recommend Ballymena School of Music. The staff are incredible with the young people and always ensure their needs are met in every way to obtain a happy and professional learning environment. The centre goes to great lengths to prepare students for exams e.g. extra tuition, performances and extra rehearsals with accompanists.
